Mia grinned briefly at the mayhem she'd caused, then promptly dived into the bags. "If you see my sewing kit, let me know. And my hood. It has stars on it." She glanced into a few bags she didn't recognise, pushing larger things aside to glance into their bottoms. She hadn't been carrying much when she was snatched - most of her belongings had been on the cart - but what she had, she treasured.

After a few moments' searching, the two Children of Power and Hairah, who had quickly followed Mia, had established that, in fact, all their possessions were still intact and in the bags, along with four bags of things so rusted and ancient as to be useless, one bag of mostly clothing, one bag of used underwear - Hairah quickly threw that one into the far corner with a warning not to open it - and four bags worth searching in more detail.
Any searching, however, was interrupted as the thud of footsteps on the stairs echoed across the dungeon, and the lone bandit left at the table stammered in surprise at the sight of the armed guardsman approaching. "H-halt!" he ordered, trying not to sound afraid.

"Fair enough" Ronan shrugged stopping where he stood then lobbing his hammer at the man. (non-lethal)

Fintin froze in surprise. He'd know that voice anywhere. And, much as might have disliked the owner of said voice, it was, by far, the lesser of two evils. ... Besides, he'd found the official pardon Hairah had given him, and he kinda wanted to wave it in the man's face.
"Ronan! Over here!"

The bandit collapsed unconscious - unsurprisingly.

Ronan surveyed the scene with a look of absolute confusion "Fint- Hariah! What?" He stammered. He took a few steps forward and picked up his hammer before speaking. "Ok what the hell are you doing here and what's going on, make it quick. There are several men I want in cells before they wake up."

"I'm the new Child of Darkness," Fintan said. He didn't entirely believe it, but the look on Ronan's face would be priceless. "And this is Mia. We got kidnapped. We were just escaping. You?"

This revelation did make Ronan pause confusion now replaced by horror before he forced it down and moved on planning to process that particular piece of information later."we were passing through and found a soldiers sword in and the evidence of a fight along with body drag marks. Here by the way." he said handing Hariah her sword "We followed them here." he finished. Ronan mulled over the possibility of locking Fintan back in the cell but they were in a hurry and there were bigger priorities. "All right I still have rooms to clear. While I do that you guys take this morons weapons and keys and lock him in there" he said gesturing to the cell "then do the same with the guard in the kitchen and the two outside, and you! so called Child of Darkness" He jabbed a finger at Fintan "better not wander off in the mean time." He said with a threatening edge to his voice.

Hairah took her sword with a smile. "Who's we?" she asked, dragging the four interesting bags out of the cell along with her own possessions, before taking the unconscious guard by the legs and hauling him towards the treasure trove.

"Melasni's outside" Ronan said with a smirk before heading up the stairs.

"Oh." Hairah's friendly smile suddenly got a lot more forced. "Great."

Ronan went to the door he'd ignored earlier and opened it weapon ready.

The room was, disappointingly enough, completely empty of bandits - it had a few chairs and looked to be somewhere to relax. A few much-trampled books lay around the room, and a fireplace sat empty against the wall. On the floor lay the remnants of a few now-festering meals.

Ronan left the room alone, turned around and went up the stairs.

Mia, garish hood happily placed on her head and sewing kit stuffed down her top, smiled politely at their abrupt rescuer. As soon as he was out of sight, she said through gritted teeth, "How many other people are going to rescue us? And why don't I know anyone?" The smile remained, threatening, as she turned to face Fintan and Hairah.

"That's Ronan," Fintan said, double checking he's grabbed all his things and pausing to go through the pockets of the unconscious guard, being careful of handkerchiefs. "I know him because he's an old enemy slash arresting officer of mine. Hairah, presumably, knows him because they're both soldiers in the same city. As for the other guy, I have no idea who he is either."

"He's a guardsman, I'm a soldier," Hairah corrected. "Ekkhoen sent me with the first Children of Power back when they first found their powers, Ronan was one of them. I'd never met him before that day, but I saw him around on duty sometimes. As for Melasni, he's the court wizard of the country. I'm surprised you haven't heard of him..." Her tone indicated exactly how pleased she was to hear about his presence (namely about as pleased as if you had told her she would be sharing her bed with a dozen rattlesnakes, to be precise).
[OOC: You both probably know this already IC: Ekkhoen is the country's governor's son and a commander in their army. Melasni is also not here, he's waiting outside per Ronan's earlier request. It's reasonable for your characters to have heard of him and vaguely remember this, if you wish.]

Hairah shook her head slightly. "Here, help me search these bags would you?"
Upstairs, there were three bedrooms, each one crammed with several beds (and, in one room, four sleeping bandits - from the look of things they were very drunk and in no danger of waking up even if Ronan were to bang a gong above their heads). Each room had a wardrobe and a few chests in it, and several pouches scattered everywhere. Also scattered everywhere, unfortunately, was various old, worn, smelly clothing.
[OOC: No, I won't make you roll Notice for each chest. Each room, though. Bonuses depending on how well you describe what you're doing.]

Deciding to deal with the bandits first and worry about searching the place once all danger had passed Ronan checked the bandits for nearby weapons.

Ronan Collected these, putting them in one of the other rooms and then returned to the sleeping bandits. He moved to the one nearest the door and went to flip the bed, bandit and all.

Fintan, never one to miss out on loot, started carefully going through the extra sacks, keeping a wary eye out for any traps. He hadn't yet run across anyone who kept mouse traps in their things, to snap the fingers of thieves, but it sounded like something he might do, if he had much worth protecting, so he always checked anyway. He was similarly wary of ground glass, and concealed poisoned dart throwers.

[OOC: Ronan failed a Strength roll]
The bed utterly failed to move, as did the snoring bandit. The only thing that happened was a wave of stale-booze-stench hit Ronan with rather an unpleasant amount of force.
Fintan was unable to find any traps in the loot - aside from one unsprung mousetrap and a hunk of very, very, very mouldy cheese that was enough to make nearly anyone lose their lunch.
[OOC: Fintan can roll to find actual valuables another post, as he was looking mostly for ouches.]

[OOC: I am a terrible, terrible person. Sorry for taking so long to reply.]
Mia sat herself in front of the bags, picked up one that Fintan had already searched for traps, and started rummaging through it for goodies. Or, stray pieces of clothing - clean - that she could use later for material. As she removed things from it, she muttered, "I thought Melasni was called Mer-snail. 'T's what it sounded like when mum said it." She paid absolutely no heed to whatever the new stranger was doing upstairs - he could probably handle it himself. And, if not, she had fire. Apparently lots of it. And occasionally it was green. She grinned happily to herself.
