I mentioned the possibility of starting another RP before. Obviously this won't happen for some time, as I probably need a little more experience before starting my own campaign. Everyone is new to RP in a web format, and I'm busy right now anyway. But I thought I'd ask around a bit and get an idea of what people were interested in. I've got two main ideas I've been tossing about.
Marvel: There's already some rulebooks out there for a Marvel Comics based RPG. To adapt it for Savage Worlds, I'd probably toss out... almost everything but the list of potential powers. The main questions I'd have for anyone interested in a Marvel RPG would be if they want to play existing characters, or original characters. Also, any Marvel RPG would probably take place in neither the comics continuity or the film continuity as the comics... well that's way too much background and history to deal with. The films are a little limiting though. So it'd be a completely new Marvel adaptation (Which would be helpful for players not familiar with the Marvel universe anyway, as I'd have to write up a full overview of the universe for everyone).
Dishonored: I mentioned it before as one of my favorite settings, and I feel like it has a lot of potential to work as an RPG. It's a Bethesta game, which gives it some major advantages. One is that the original game did a lot of universe building, though books, letters, and other background information. Two is that the actual plotline of the game is very simple, meaning any needed backstory would be easy to understand. The other lovely thing is that the city you'd be in, Dunwall, is not a particularly nice place. There's extreme class division, which was only made worse by plague. Part of the city is flooded. There's several gangs who control most of the poorer parts of the city. Oh, and the current Empress is a small child. What I'm saying is, while this is all bad for the people there, it's fantastic for an RPG, because there's no shortage of natural conflict, and lots of lovely opportunities for character backstories.
Thoughts? Ideas? Preferences?

Both sound good I'd have to give an edge to Dishonored since I love the universe although I feel like the it's good for side mission generation but you'd have to work hard to make an interesting main plot and force the characters together if they are even remotely diverse.

i'm open to either. i'm not well versed in either, Marvel more than Dishonored, but not by much. i'm interested either way

I'd prefer Marvel, since I know next to nothing about Dishonored. Though, if we used OCs, would we replace established Marvel characters or work alongside them?

I figured work alongside. It's a big universe, you can share.

On the other hand, I'd likely end up saying yes to joining anyway because... hey, why not? Might make (another) blind character though. Just keep us updated on any ideas of when it'll happen Mankoi

How soon is now? I've been meaning to get to this anyway, given that I finished the applications I was working on, so I have a fair deal of free time, actually. It's nearly Thanksgiving break for those of us in the US (so... me), so now's a good time.

Well, you can still be deaf!
Actually, that'd be an interesting RP challenge in some ways. Namely, communicating with the rest of your team. Unless you decided you were telepathic.

Hey guys as you may know I am planning to run a game. This will be set in an alternate Dragon age universe, meaning the culture, laws of physics and organisations will be more or less the same as well as the larger historical events but details of history may be slightly altered and there will be NO living characters in common with the original games minor or otherwise. It will be set around the time of the origins game but will only have the absolutely essential things in common. Your characters should start from their everyday life situations in Fereldan and then be shamelessly rail roaded by me into the Grey Wardens this means they will have to already be capable characters worthy of recruitment so they will potentially be starting from seasoned and probably ought to avoid being an intentionally incapable character. I won't be starting this until potentially the 5th of January or later but I'm happy to discuss Characters until then.

Awesome. I just recently got through the first game, so I won't be going in totally blind if I roll up a character.

Origins will be the most helpful in terms of the lore that stays. I think the only change you'd need to know is that qunari have horns most of the time lol.

Most of the time if I remember right (I did pick up some info on DA2, hoping to be able to run it soon, but I need to finish the Awakening DLC first. Well I don't need to, I guess, but I plan on it.) And elves got scrawnier and got more Celtic accents too, yes?

Now I think about it there is at least one exception to the know living characters in common rule which being Flemeth hadn't thought of that one but she's to wrapped in lore. I've decided the best way to describe this is imagine nothing after 10 years before Origins happened and this game is set 200 years later than that point. Questions?

I actually won't be playing this one, I barely played an hour of Origins, and haven't really felt any urge to return to it, no matter how many glowing reviews I read/watch.

Origins would be interesting to play as an RP, though my lore is rusty as all heck, since the last time I played it was a couple of years ago. Though I have it on steam... but if I start playing it you likely won't see me for a couple of weeks DA2 I played... wasn't too happy with, for various reasons. It wasn't a 'bad' game, but there are some definite problems with it. EDIT: I'm thinking of adding an in-progress game to here, that I'm running with darky and thalslaw. It's set in the world of Naruto, which for those who don't know is an anime, based around ninjas, which is pretty light-hearted. It's based on a version of the D20 modern system created by some guy on the net, and is 'just a tad' more complex than SW, in that character creation is pretty involved with the GM, especially for those that are completely unfamiliar with the anime, since explanations will be needed to explain what some of the mechanics are, and some concepts that will be present in the game, to name a couple of things. The main reason I wanted to add it here is so members can see how a mechanically different game to SW is run, and to potentially spread interest in it, I won't be expecting new characters for a while, since it's still being tested and I'm not very familiar with all of the mechanics yet, but I'm happy to talk about it in more detail if anyone's interested.

My main problems with the series were gameplay and the limits of written rpg's i.e. limited decision making and the uniqueness of characters becoming irrelevant. The universe itself I love and it has so many cultures and societies and organisations as well as a legit way of pulling any group of characters together which I think make it I deal for an RPG like this.

I had some serious issues with the DA:O gameplay, I remember. Mostly because I was playing a rogue. Every time I was about to get into a major fight, a cutscene would start and de-stealth me. And put my carefully placed party members... in a cluster in the middle of the screen, ruining any planning I had.
I admit, I was never as fond of Dragon Age as, say, Mass Effect, but I certainly like it. Still not sure what a good character would be. I'm thinking about an eleven bard from Orlais. Why he's be in Ferelden, I'm not sure. I like the idea that the layers of plots on plots has turned him so paranoid, he started seeing plots to assassinate him everywhere, and wound up fleeing the country for no good reason at all.

That sounds brilliantly entertaining I can just spend the entire game with a plot ready for when you finally let your guard down lol
