Dalyna was crouched in the undergrowth of the Brecilian forest, Meaty beside her sniffing the ground. She'd been sent by the Keeper to track a wolf pack whose footprints the clan had come across, so they would have enough warning to change direction to avoid the pack if necessary.

She drew her bow casually from behind her back. Though her eyes were fixed on the clearing in front of her, she was listening, rapt, to the forest. Meaty raised his head, and looked to the South. She was up, and dashing through the brush.

Meaty raced just ahead of her, clearly having picked up the scent they were looking for. After running for several minutes, Meaty slowed and sniffed the air. He looked confused. Then he shook his head, and continued forward, quietly this time.

Dalyna followed in his wake, creeping through the undergrowth, anticipation building in her veins. She had been doing this so long, there was no trace of nerves. The Keeper called it foolishness. She knew they thought she was arrogant. Danlyna failed, spectacularly, to care.

Both Meaty and Dalyna faded into the undergrowth, and continued onwards. After another minute, they came to a clearing, and saw the bodies of the wolves were scattered across it. The scene was gruesome. Many of the wolves had been decapitated, or disembowelled. One had been torn in half, leaking innards over the undergrowth. Only one was half alive. It lay panting on the other side of the clearing, pinned into the bloodied ground by some sort of jagged sword.

Dalyna rushed forwards, caution temporarily forgotten. She knelt beside the dying wolf and laid a hand on its fur. Then common sense caught up with her. These kills were far too fresh. She gripped the bow tightly in her hand, and listened to the sounds of the forest.

Dalyna heard heavy footfalls. She was ready when three figures charged into the clearing, weapons aloft. They were tall as men, but their skin was grey, and mottled. Their eyes were cloudy, as if blind. They matched the descriptions of Darkspawn that Dalyna had heard from elders of the clan. All three ran at Dalyna. The leading one however, was cut short by 400 pounds of, black, angry wild cat landing on his back. Meaty, who'd remained hidden in the shrubbery until now, knocked him off his feet and began tearing him apart. Seeing this, one of the other two Darkspawn changed his direction, charging towards the cat instead. Meaty leapt out of reach as he brought his sword down, snarling furiously. The remaining Darkspawn kept running at Dalyna, letting out gargled noise somewhere between a roar, and a scream. (OOC: Combat entered, Meaty got a suprise round, the combat order is Meaty, Darkspawn 1, Darkspawn 2, Dalyna.)

Dalyna whipped around, nocked an arrow and let it fly.

The Darkspawn's cry was cut short as her arrow filled his mouth, he staggered back then fell forward to his knees, and finally face first to the ground, forcing the arrow the rest of the way out the back of his skull. The final darkspawn launched himself at Meaty blade first. Meaty was too slow to evade the attack this time, but the blade glanced off his fore leg as if it were steel, leaving only a newly uneven patch of fur. (OOC: Combat order Darkspawn 1, Dalyna, Meaty.)

Dalyna quickly nocked a second arrow, and released, aiming for the Darkspawn's leg.
(OOC: Hey, can these things communicate by the way? Also I forgot, does she have any other weapons apart from her bow?)

(OOC: they have a sort of hive mind but Dalyna would probably assume they communicate in a similar way to most animals. You have a buckler and long sword. Aiming for the leg specifically is called a 'called shot' and adds difficulty to hitting the target given that it's smaller, also bare in mind that firing at someone in direct combat with another means a small chance of hitting the other character.) The arrow embedded in the ground betweent the Darkspawn's legs. Meaty slashed at the creatures midriff, failing to break through the rusted chainmail but clearly winding him. The other paw flew from the side, knocking the Darkspawn's off his feet and ripping a large gash in his neck. He thrashed for a second then went still.

Dalyna swore softly, and padded over to Meaty. She crouched behind the corpse of the Darkspawn and stared at it, breathing heavily, and struggling to keep her mind straight. After a few minutes, her brain whirring, she turned around and headed back for the camp.
At least the wolves wouldn't be causing any trouble.

As Dalyna walked through the undergrowth towards where she estimated the clan would be by now, she started to notice things. There were broken branches, trampled plants and a huge footprint bigger than her head. Clearly a large group had passed through here.

Dalyna frowned. A bad feeling was developing in her gut. She pulled out her sword and began moving faster, still careful to be as quiet as she could.

Meaty runs alongside you, you're not sure if he understands what's happening but it looks like he does. After a few minutes you start to hear fighting, and then see your Caravan's under attack. A large group of Darkspawn are in combat with your fellow Dalish Warriors and hunters, but the Dalish are putting up a good fight. The Keeper is fighting off a huge ogre, summoning hundreds of thick vines that it has to struggle to tear through whenever it tries to move or attack. She seems to be attempting to strangle it but none of the vines stay intact long enough to reach it's neck. (OOC: To keep things simple I'll only include those in close combat with you in the combat order here.)

After a moment's hesitation, Dalyna dashes past the ogre, dodging the vines that are spinning through the air. She pulls an arrow from her quiver, and aims for one of the dark spawn who are attacking her party.
