Without thinking, Sophie reached into the handbag she always wore and pulled out her empty mug. She was halfway through trying to take a sip from it before she remembered, and pouted. "Do you have a coffee maker I could use?"

"We do," Storm said. "Down in the kitchen. I can show you the way. You'll certainly want to know where that is."

Sophie nodded enthusiastically. "Please!"

Storm gently lead Sophie towards the kitchen. "To the left is the automated laundry service," Storm said as they passed through the hallway to the central wing. "You just put your clothes in the chute and type in your room number. The buttons are labeled in braille. Your room number is 12, by the way. Every room has a braille label on the doorframe."
Storm then lead her down the stairs, and into the room that would have been right under the automated laundry she pointed out. "And this is the kitchen. The coffee pot is on the counter to your left. It already has plenty in it."

Sophie nodded in clear appreciation of the braille numbering, trailing her hands across the numbers they passed to try to learn them. She reached out to her left, finding the coffee pot after a brief search - the fact that the coffee maker chose that moment to gurgle certainly helped - and refilling her mug. "I could use some milk, where's the fridge?" she asked, figuring that while she could find it given enough time, it was probably better just to ask.

"Back left corner," Storm said. "Behind the stove."

It took Sophie a minute of searching before she even found the fridge, and she prayed the whole time that Storm would not butt in and help as she opened the door and began the task of finding the milk within it.
[OOC: It takes me a minute to find the fridge in an unfamiliar kitchen and I have working eyes, I feel justified here.]

Ororo waited patiently while Sophie searched.
"Later on, we may be able to get you a small refrigerator for your room. I think Ruth has one. Same reason you'd want it. No one moves anything around in hers. And we could send Kurt back to fetch your coffee maker if you like. It'd save you from having to drink the cheap coffee Scott insists on buying."

Sophie nodded eagerly. "I keep my coffee in a shelf right above the coffee maker, if he could grab that too...?" She found the milk, pouring it into her coffee with a practice hand. She put the milk back in the fridge, and put the mug into her handbag, where it quietly vanished into the time warp.

"Of course," Ororo said. "I'll--"
Ororo was interrupted by a fuzzy animal shooting through the kitchen. It leaped into the air and landed on Sophie's shoulder for a split second before bounding off and landing on the counter, chattering loudly.
"Doreen's alarm call," Storm said. "Come," she said, grabbing Sophie's hand and leading her away without waiting for much of a response. "To the sub-basement, we need to get you to safety. And sanitize the kitchen later."

"What the hell was that?!" was about all Sophie could manage to say as she stumbled after Ororo.

"Squirrel," Storm said. "Doreen has an affinity for them."
"Did you get a squirrel?" Another voice said as they moved. It sounded like Jean, the woman who admonished Kitty for walking through her. It also sounded like she was running alongside them."I got a squirrel, but neither the professor or I can sense anyone out there."
"I did indeed," Ororo said. "Take Cyclops and Nightcrawler to investigate. I'll guard Sophie. This isn't a coincidence."
"Right," Jean said, running off.
Ororo just took Sophie down into the mansion eventually moving her into a room that, from the sound of the echoes, was large and essentially empty.
"Stay here," Ororo said. "The danger room is secure, but I'll be guarding it, just in case."

Sophie paled visibly. "Danger room? You put me in a place called the Danger room? What the hell?!"

"It's just a name," Ororo said. "It's our training room. The walls are virtually impenetrable. There's no real danger here, especially not since we replaced the old training programs with holograms. It's also a safe place in case of a danger. Like a panic room."

"Is it safe for me to touch anything?" she asked, though judging from the echoes the room was either empty or nearly so. "And what was that bit about more than a coincidence? You think someone's after me, or...?"

"I don't think it's an accident that this happened the day you got here, no," Ororo said. "Touch anything you like. There's nothing to touch, and the power to the room has been physically cut. It's not possible for the room to activate."

Sophie nodded. "So, what's happened? I mean, who sent the squirrel? I thought you could control the weather, not talk to squirrels..."

"That's right," Storm said. "Doreen sent the squirrel. I don't know what it was trying to tell me, but Doreen would only send me a squirrel if she was trying to warn me of danger, because, again, I have no idea what it was trying to tell me. I don't know exactly what's going on, but she probably found someone intruding on the grounds."

Sophie nodded with a frown, and sat down exactly where she was. Reassurances or not, she was not willing to take any risks in something called the Danger Room.
[OOC: And there she will stay until fetched. She may browse the internet on her phone, or eat ice cream, but she's not budging until someone tells her it's safe. If you want to skip time.]
