Amazingly, Paul actually did manage to land on, and hang onto the odd creature, though the makeshift reigns functioned only as a way to hold on to the creature, and did nothing to control the way it flied.
[OOC: The combat order is Paul, Insects, Kurt]
"It's interesting, your arrival here," Xavier said to Jack, once Paul had gone. "Paul is also a new arrival here, very recently, and under odd circumstances. I mentioned the woman Fiona Chillingworth earlier. She offered him information on S.H.I.E.L.D. and an insider group called Hydra in exchange for his cooperation. I'd imagine Hydra was also behind the attempt to steal this artifact. I have a hard time believing these events aren't connected somehow. I believe Kitty Pryde found some information on the woman. Perhaps it will help you in your studies, if the two of them are connected. She's in the kitchen with our third new arrival. Of course, if you aren't in any hurry to get started, I believe Kurt is in the Danger Room, if you'd like a chance to practice your aim. In either case, I'll alert you once I've arranged the security details for this object and you are able to study it again."

(OOC: I really didn't think that would work lol.) Paul took aim at one of the other insects and fired.

Turning to face Xavier, Jack would give him a curious look "That'd answer as to who attacked S.H.E.I.L.D. It was a little too well timed if you ask me. Anyway, I'll guess I'll go and chat to this Kitty Pride, but uh- where is the kitchen?" He supposed he could stumble around and he'd find it eventually, however, it's so much simpler to have a guide.

"Out this door, turn left to exit the library, and proceed in that direction to the north wing. You'll find yourself passing through the sitting room, and into another hallway. Take the first door on your left in that hallway," said Xavier.
The wild bucking of the insect caused Paul's shot to go completely wild. In fact, the wild movement of the beast shook Paul off its back completely. Fortunately, the fall was not a particularly high one, and Paul managed to hit the ground rolling. Two more of the strange creatures shot directly at Paul, buzzing angrily, but Paul was able to roll out of the way of both of them. Another insect did the same towards Kurt, and managing to catch him by surprise and knock him into the ground hard enough to daze him. He was able to teleport away from a second attack, but a third insect rammed him into a rock in a way that looked very painful.
"It's okay," Kurt said, wincing. "The Danger Room won't let anyone get hurt TOO badly..."
[OOC: The combat order for the next round is Insects, Kurt, Paul. There are six, insects, in case you haven't guessed. They were supposed to be pretty easy, but they kept acing their rolls against Kurt.]
An insect, the one Paul had tried to ride, in fact, gave him a similar treatment, ramming directly into his head, its hard exoskeleton dazing Paul slightly, and knocking him to the ground. This turned out to be fortunate, as it caused the other two insects attacking him to zip over his head instead. Kurt, similarly, was able to roll away from all three attacks on him, though the rapid movement seemed to make him more woozy, if anything.
"I'll be okay in a second," he said.
[OOC: Sorry, Kurt can't same to make a spirit roll to save his life]

Rolled into a shadow and jumped, aiming for one a decent distance behind the insects hoping to confuse them, he then fired at the nearest one.

The insects were certainly confused, to the point where one of them hit a stalagmite in its attempt to find the target, dazing itself. Paul's shot reduced the centermost bug to a rather unappealing green splat.
[OOC: The combat order is Kurt, Paul, Bugs]
Kurt shook his head slightly, and his grip on his swords tightened, as he seemed to finally shake off his dazed state.

Paul fired again at the nearest creature then jumped quickly to a new location, assuming the bugs would focus on the area he'd just fired from.

The insect, which seemed to have worked out that Paul's gun was a bad thing, moved out of the line of fire an instant before Paul pulled the trigger and avoided any damage. Any sense that this bug had been endowed with a great deal of artificial intelligence from the danger room was disproven, however, when it was baffled to the point of inaction by Paul's vanishing trick. Its counterpart was a bit smarter, or just lucky enough to see where Paul happened to teleport to and charged him once again. Paul, however, was easily able to teleport a few feet to the left and allow the insect to sail past him.
[OOC: The combat order for this turn is Kurt, Paul, Bugs]
"All right, bugs! Time to face Nightcrawler!" Kurt cried out, twirling a sword in each hand before slashing out with both of them at the nearest of the insects. Sadly, both swings missed.

Paul holstered his gun and drew his knife before, jumping from where he stood to the space above the insect that had charged him, falling knife down onto the back of the beast, adding all his weight to the force of the attack.

The bug wriggled under Paul's knife before falling still. The three around Kurt all moved to attack him, with Kurt easily teleporting out of the way.
[OOC: The combat order for this round is Kurt, Paul, Bugs again]
A second later, Kurt teleported back, effortlessly impaling an insect on each sword as he did so, leaving only one left.

Paul's volley of shots sprayed around the insect to no avail. The insect buzzed angrily and rammed directly into Paul. Fortunately, Paul's vest took most of the impact and saved him from any serious impact.
[OOC: The combat order this round is Bug, Kurt, Paul]
The bug moved back to ram Paul again, but this time Paul was able to roll out of the way. Kurt teleported in front of it, held his sword out, and let the insect impale itself, grinning devilishly as he did so.
"Not too bad," Kurt said. "For you, I mean. I confess, I may have been a little distracted. Not my best work."

"We all have off days" Paul shrugged "the skill's obviously there, it just looked like a lot of bad luck." He reassured putting his weapons away. "I like this room, it's incredible! The training potential is practically endless."

"Ja," Kurt said. "It has to be. So many mutant with so many different abilities... it needs to adapt to anything. Between you and me though, the old Danger Room was just a lot of pistons and saw blades. Not as much fun."

[OOC: Fair enough, I was trying to get someone to you with some sort of objective. Kitty has some information, she's with Sophie, and Jack is on his way there, so...]
"Come," Kurt said. "Fighting always makes me hungry, and the kitchen is less crowded this time of day."

"Sounds good" People were very frienldy here. Paul had never had a problem with mutants given that his own abilities were similar, only really differing at the source but he'd assumed the prejudice they dealt with would mean they'd be closed off or even aggressive to non-mutants even if only in self defence.

In a flash, Kurt's tail had wrapped around Paul's wrist. For such a small thing, its grip seemed to be shockingly strong. It only lasted a moment though, as both Paul and Kurt appeared in the kitchen together with a bamf sound, and a small cloud of something that reeked like sulfur. As soon as they arrived, the tail released Paul again.
"Kurt!," Kitty said, sitting on the counter, a nibbled on sandwich in her hands, wrinkling her nose. "Not in the kitchen!"
"Apologies, frauline." Kurt said. "Ah! And Sophie! Nice to see you again!"
"I guess that answers my 'Where's Paul' question," Kitty said. "We haven't found the bugs yet, but I did get Stark to cough up Fiona's phone data. Lemme tell you, she is a busy, busy bee. Lots of calls, to all over. Plenty to Oscorp. Some to private numbers, ones I can't even trace. Not yet anyway. But you're a long way from the only person she's dealing with. Anyway, the calls don't all come from the same place, which means the phone is mobile. Not, like, a mobile phone. Well, it's that too. But it means it's not just a proxy phone sitting on an empty desk somewhere. I worked out from call location and frequency where she probably is. Hopefully it's where she keeps her files too. It might have what you're looking for."

Paul blinked hard taking in his location and running over the the sensation in his head. It was very different to his teleporting, when he did it felt like falling through a curtain of smoke, this was more of a pulse, like every molecule of his body relocating individually and simultaneously, it was very disconcerting "fascinating" he said before turning to kitty. "What's the location?"

Kitty handed him an address. "If she has information on Hydra, she may know about that artifact they were after. You should take the Asguardian with you. And... well, what do you think, Sophie? I don't know how safe it'll be but it does sort of concern your life. If I were in your place, I'd sure as hell want to go."
