Alec sighs in relief, closing the door of his dormitory room behind him. He had had a rough day, the details of which he was quick to try to forget. Those fools and their pranks had soiled the inside of his bag, including the paperwork inside it. Most of it wasn't recoverable, so he tossed that pile into the trash. As he slides into place the dozen or so locks on his door, of several different types, for security, he feels more and more secure in this place, his sanctuary.
He sets the rest of the paperwork that might be somewhat salvageable on the desk, and settles down into a heap in front of it. In place of a chair, his lower body dissolves into a fleshy blob, his upper body as normal. Not bad, it takes off some of the mental strain of keeping his 'normal' form. He chuckles at the absurdity of it. If those idiot jocks saw his true 'normal' form, they'd probably wet themselves.
But, that would be childish, and there'd likely be an investigation, which he really didn't want. Sure, he could likely pass it off as they were doing weed or some other mind altering narcotic, but it would still arouse suspicion on him among the student body. Again, he didn't want that. He was paranoid as it is, trying to protect his secret.
He takes the first piece of slightly damp paper and begins to decipher the contents onto his laptop, which itself had substantial security, he wasn't the only one in the school with knowledge of computers after all. Still, any information related to his 'condition' was stored safely on a thumb drive USB, with its own security protocols. He didn't want to take any chances.

There was a soft tapping of a knock at the door.

Focused on the task at hand, Alec almost doesn't hear the quiet knocking. He wasn't expecting anyone. His mind goes through a mental list of anyone who might knock on his door, but such a quiet knocking didn't fit the bill for any of them. His curiosity piqued, he minimizes the open programs on his laptop, reforms himself and goes over to the door quietly, peeking through the viewing pinhole. "Hello, who's there?"

"Name's Anna Marie," the woman outside his door said. She was certainly unusual looking, brown hair except for two white streaks at the very front. Her clothing also betrayed a affinity for the color green, while her speech was distinctly southern. "Ah prefer Rogue."

Alec relaxed a little, it wasn't one of the usual suspects... but, this mysterious girl appearing at his front door was odd. He didn't know her, he couldn't think of a reason why she would know him. Without opening the door, he calls through, "Sorry, I think you might have the wrong room. Are you a student here?"
The most obvious question. She didn't strike him as a student, but honestly, he didn't get out much so couldn't be sure. She was american, from her accent. Not an uncommon sight in a city like Oxford, so full of students who'd transferred here. His hand starts to slip closer to the first of the locks on his door.

"Ah'm not a student," she said. "Ah'm here from the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. Ah know y'aint exactly gonna be a student there, but we oughta talk. We uh..." she looked around for a moment to see if anyone else was in earshot. "We both got some unique genetics, ya know?"

At the mention of the 'unique genetics', Alec unlocks each lock on his door, except the chain lock, and opens the door slowly to get a better look at this girl. She didn't look like the computer-whiz-uber-hacker type, and his security was airtight, as far as he could figure. So it wasn't likely she figured out his secret from there.
This Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters struck something in his memory, maybe something on TV? Or on the internet? He couldn't remember right now. The only other possibility was that someone else informed her, who could break through his security, or she had other means of finding out, though he didn't have the foggiest idea what that might be.
Alec didn't believe much in coincidences. This girl knew about him. That was the most likely conclusion. "Wait one moment please." He closed the door, then undid the chain latch. Taking a glance around the room, he realised he should tidy it more, but it wasn't too bad of a bombsite.
He opens the door again, taking a glance either side to see if anyone was around. "Come in." he says simply.

Rogue walked inside quickly, though didn't make any move to shed her jacket. "Ah'm just here doin' a bit of a meet and great. Xavier's school is... well, it's a mutant school. When they say it's highly selective... they mean mutants. But it's also a safe haven for adult mutants as well. Ah know you're doin' fine right now, but... well best to let you know what your options are, right?"

"Shh keep it down. The walls have ears in a place like this." Taking a seat on the bed, he gestures towards a chair sat unused next to a bookcase, with a questioning look at Rogue. Lowering his voice, "Mutant, hmm? That would certainly describe it, but what about you? You seem normal... but then so do I. I've never met another mutant before, sorry."

"Ah'd show you but... well it could kill ya. I uh... sorta absorb people's energy when I touch 'em. Ah look normal enough, but..."
The woman pulled on her gloves a little more firmly as she spoke. She didn't even seem to be aware she was doing it.

"I wonder how that works..." Alec whispered, then corrected himself, "Sorry, that must be difficult. Not being able to touch people." He gestures at the gloves. "Does it only happen when it's skin to skin? I assume so, since you have to wear those."
He nods, then looks at her. "How much do you know about my ability? I'll show you, but it might shock you. Just an advance warning."

"Ah'll take it into consideration," Rogue said. "But Ah've seen a lot. No idea what you can do though. Char-- Professor Xavier's got a machine that can find mutants, but it doesn't say what it is they can do. As for my ability, yes. That's why Ah try to keep covered up."

"Just... try not to throw up. I like this carpet." Alec's perception lowers closer to the ground as his body returns to blob form. He sits resting, his head still intact above the rest of the blob.

"Huh," Rogue said, seemingly nonpulsed. "Sorry, Ah'm a bit callous by now. You oughta see some of mutants that live underground, the ones that can't pass for human."

"I've heard rumours on the net, thought they were just exaggerations... So there are mutants who live underground after all. I suppose the nature of mutation is it comes in many forms, some more... beneficial than others. Sorry, that's callous of me, but I'm a biologist, or a biology student any way. It is... interesting to me." Alec had reformed by the end of this sentence, and sat again on the bed.
"My own mutation is more than just turning into a blob though, I have to concentrate to maintain this 'normal' form. If I'm unconscious, I go back to being a blob. Its like I have control over how my body functions, down to the cellular level, as far as I can tell anyway."
Looking again at Rogue, "So, you mentioned I had options?"

"Well, sure," she said. "There's always a place for a mutant at Xavier's. If ya get into any trouble, hit hard times, or all that, you have a place you can go. You've got options open. An', hey, if things work out here... Ah'm sure we could use a good biology teacher. But in more immediate terms, we got a little group in these parts. Ah'm not normally around, but Ah can introduce you, if you wanna come with me."

He gets up from the bed and paces back and forth a bit, clearly in thought. "Hmm.. sure, why not. I don't see the harm in meeting them at least." He stops and turns to her. "Where would we be going exactly to meet this little group? I'm also curious, where is Xavier's School?"

"Westchester county, New York," Rogue said. "For the school. The group is just in the coffee shop."
Alec's phone started to quietly buzz as it picked up an incoming call.

Alec walks over to his desk and picks up his phone, which had been sitting under a few sheets of paper. He checks the caller ID.

The caller ID wasn't a number that Alec knew. Rather it seemed to be a call from some online phone service.

"Huh, an online service. Friend of yours?", showing Rogue the display.

Rogue shook her head. "Well, not that Ah know of anyway. Could be someone's got bad phone reception, and good WiFi, so they're usin' that to make their call instead."

"That makes some sense. Still, it's not a number I'm familiar with, and I have the details of everyone who's made a call to me for the past year, down to the pizza delivery person. Its possible that someone else knows about me, though I don't know how." He answers the phone, staying away from the window. He's seen more than a few action/thriller/mystery movies.
