Alec watches all of this happen, impressed. "You really do have a knack for this type of thing. I'm mostly a dabbler myself, compared to you." Alec admits, feeling a little unnecessary... But no matter, he had his own areas of expertise. Glancing over the chat window... "This could be useful. Thanks." Alec looks for a way to make his own account, then opening a chat window to Alan, seeing no reason not to trust him now. Looking down at his phone, then to the laptop, curiously. Typing into the window, "So... where are you? I'm curious, how are you doing all of this? She mentioned you were human, but not any more? What happened?" He sends the message.

The reply was slow in coming. He'd never really told anyone about the particulars of his condition, but hey, there was a first time for everything. The chat window pinged. "I'm right here in the computer. I'm a science experiment gone wrong, I guess. Body died. Mind lives on. Not something I'd recommend. Makes hacking a hell of a lot easier though Where you from, anyway? You don't strike me as a local."

Replying, "It's certainly an odd situation. I suppose you've backed yourself up in multiple places? I'm half english, quarter russian, quarter slavic, or something scandanavian, I think... My parents were never very clear where that particular uncle was from. I'm natively british though, I've lived here most of my life, and have forgotten most of the little russian I learned as a kid. As for my... abilities. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but it was around a year ago. I woke up in my bathtub one morning after a particularly rough night, and looked around. I say looked... I didn't actually have what you would call eyes. I sort of sensed where everything was. It's hard to explain, much less to visualise. I imagine it's not too different to you trying to explain to me what the internet looks like... haha. Anyway, after my body reformed from the blob I'd become, that took about three hours to figure out how it worked. I got really comfortable in that bath tub, which is easier to do when you have no clear muscular structure... Anyway, I'm babbling. I can explain it more later, if you're interested. It's weird, I spent all this time protecting my secret, having someone to talk to about it is... relieving I suppose. That I'm not crazy, you know?"

"Crazy? You obviously haven't spent that much time on the web." Alan decided he liked this fellow. Despite all the earlier paranoia, he seemed almost eager to trust him. Poor kid must've had nearly no one to talk to - not that Alan did. But then he was trusting Alec too.
"Anyways, I've got bits backed up, mostly memories, but the bit that makes me me... I suppose religious people would call it a soul, I dunno. I think I prefer stream of consciousness (oh, precious irony). That bit's all a signal. A nice electronic pulse that's constantly changing. So, er, don't turn the power off, please. That Magnet-man guy was scary enough for something like me."

"Well, it's kind of different when it's yourself, rather than stories your hear about someone a thousand miles away. It's far less... distant, you know? More so with something like this..."
"And I think I get it now, your consciousness is somewhere on my laptop at the moment, and can move to other electrical objects, like you did with my phone. Yeah... Magneto getting too close to you would be scary, I understand that now, more so than with everyone else. Though if he really manipulates magnetic fields, there's a whole spectrum of stuff he might be able to control, not just metal. Electromagnetism isn't that complicated to figure out, it's not too high level science. He's powerful, no doubt about that..."

"Yeah," Alan agreed quickly. "Real scary dude. Not sure what he gets out of this still. You going to do that application?"

"Well, either way, I don't think we should get on his bad side. That said, I want to find out more about what's going on, as you say, what he wants out of this. He's not telling us everything, and I don't like it. And yes, I was getting around to that."
Alan brought up the MI6 website, looking around for any sort of application form, or a Careers section, the usual.

The website looked much like any corporate site might look. There was a British royal crest in blue in the top left corner, next to the words "Secret Intelligence Service" in large bold letters, with "MI6" next to that, in unbolded letters. It had the usual links any site would have. "About SIS," "Our Mission," and, of course "Work for SIS" which had the subheading "You might be surprised to hear you're exactly what we're looking for."

Smirking at the words, Alec clicked on the option, intrigued. "What a coincidence, you're what I'm looking for too..."

The link lead Alec to a fairly standard application form, much like any other job would have.

Alec blinks, as if he was somehow expecting something a little more... he didn't know what. He spends the next few minutes filling in the application form, checking it's all correct and then finally submitting it. Finished, he stretches, and out of curiosity opens up his emails and filters out the usual crap. [OOC: Join us next time, true believers! For more intensity, action and excitement! Don't worry man. After a shockingly short amount of time, no more than five minutes, Alec's phone started to ring. The caller ID told him it was from the S.I.S. Apparently they had phones that were listed on public directories.

Somewhat surprised at the immediate call, he picks it up, "Alec Martin speaking."

Alan activated the microphone on the computer he was on, turning it up and noise filtering off - he'd run his own program on it later; he didn't want to miss anything on the other end of the call. He set it recording everything to his own servers, same as when he was listening in on the conversation with Magneto.

"Hello," the voice on the other end of the line said. She sounded American. "This is Maria Hill. I'm calling regrading to application you just sent in."

"Hello Maria, and how are you today? What can I do for you?" Alec reclines on the chair, holding his phone to his ear aware that Alan is probably listening in, and glad of it.

"Well, we just got your application. I know you only sent it in a moment ago. On account of your academic performance, however, you were already on our shortlist. All we were waiting for was for you to show an interest. How soon would you be able to meet, so we can discuss your employment?"

"Much obliged, see you soon." Putting the phone down, Alec looked up the place she mentioned. It sounded familiar, but he wanted to be sure. Afterwards, he starts packing up his stuff.

Alan, meanwhile, was performing several remote searches for the name "Maria Hill". The name didn't sound entirely familiar, but he didn't have access to his entire memory (some of the earlier stuff was backed up on slower, harder to access drives), so he couldn't be sure. Social networks were usually the best bet, but names like that were fairly common, so perhaps not much help there. Plus intelligence agents were unlikely to be so flamboyant about their identities...
There were more oddities. His new friend had applied to British intelligence, and here was an American calling him - not a New Yorker, from the sounds of it, and he wasn't well-versed in the other accents of his rather large homeland. Either that meant that his application had been intercepted, which was unlikely, or forwarded on by the British (or at least their systems) through some predefined routes. Since supposedly SHIELD had an interest in him already, as Magneto had said, that was the most likely explanation.
Heh, she'd said academic performance. Nice touch. She didn't want to talk about it over an easily compromised line. And it meant that everything the two mutants had said about what would happen was coming true: they were less likely to suspect him if he came to them. She wanted to meet in a public place, but somewhere small enough that they wouldn't have to shout to be heard. Somewhere nearby, so she was already in the country - or could get here extremely quickly. Or lunch meant something else in the UK. He missed lunch.
Letting out a virtual sigh, he sent the last of the data to his servers, set the searches to ping him when they completed, then jumped back through the network to Alec's phone. No sense being left in an environment he couldn't easily contact Alec from.

Alan's search quickly turned up very little, though there was a match for Maria Hill on almost every social network conceivable. One Facebook update in the last minute about meeting a client for lunch at the restaurant that had just been mentioned. However that profile claimed Maria Hill to be a professional systems analyst. All the updates and pictures on the profile seemed to match up to that idea as well. That profile was linked to several other social medial profiles, all of which backed up the idea of her being a systems analyst. A tweet from a few months ago claimed she was in the UK on a temporary work visa for a large firm.

Noting the thorough job, Alan saved the links to this woman's profiles to his servers. He might want to refer to them later, who knew.

[OOC: Skip agreed.]
Alec walked in the door of the cafe, looking for an american woman, probably wearing a suit, or would that be too obvious. Perhaps smart casual, or at least sunglasses. It was a nice day outside... Anyway, glancing around the cafe, walking over to the counter and ordering a sandwich, BLT, extra cheese, hold the lettuce. And a cup of tea, milk, two sugars. God, he needed that cup of tea, the day he was having. Not wanting to look overly conspicuous despite the fact he's lugging around a suitcase with the majority of his worldly belongings, he sits down at a table with the sandwich, and takes a sip. Ah bliss.

A brown haired woman in an very casual blue dress sat across from him shortly. "Alec, I take it. I'm Maria Hill."
